HYDRATION

A well hydrated face will help to improve skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Proper skin hydration can also help the cells flush out toxins.

Just as electrolytes are important for internal water osmosis and fluid retention the skin requires more than just water to maintain hydration. In fact, misting you’re face with water alone can have a dehydrating effect. While a simple floral water may immediately make your skin look dewy, if that moisture isn’t trapped, that mist can actually draw moisture out of your skin and into the air- especially if the air is dry around you. For that reason we do not include herbal waters alone in our REFRESH mist. For proper hydration we add a variety of ingredients including humectants, such as glycerin and hyaluronic acid. Humectants help draw moisture from the atmosphere into the skin. It is also important to note that the molecular weight of hyaluronic acid matters — too large a molecule and the HA can actually pull moisture from the deeper layers of the skin to the surface- leaving you dewy only on a superficial level.

If you do not have our REFRESH mist and are going to use plain water or a hydrosol, it’s important that you apply an oil to trap in that moisture within 60 seconds of misting. We recommend BALANCE for oily and blemish prone skin, and REPAIR for dry, mature and sun-damaged skin.

To help maintain hydration make sure to consume plenty of water and hydrating foods. A healthy person needs 30 to 50 ounces of fluid per day and more so during intense exercise or high heat.
