"LIKE ANY HEALING, WE HAVE TO TRUST THE HEALER"

“Like any healing, we have to trust the healer”. These are the words of a new community member, who before finding LINNÉ, was reluctant to try anything new on her sensitive skin. I of course was honored by this opportunity and responsibility to heal her skin with plant medicine.

As long as I can remember, I have been a “potion maker” and plants have been my medium for nurturing family and friends. This passion started early in my youth, was promoted through travel, and was cultivated by academic opportunity including my first formal herbal education experience in college.

While at Middlebury in Vermont I had the privilege to study under Julie Mitchell, a local herbalist. One of my first assignments was to write an herbal monograph on a chosen plant. I selected Achillea millefollium. Yarrow as it is commonly known, is ubiquitous and simple in appearance and powerful and comprehensive in its function. Yarrow is a medicine chest in itself. Some of its uses include common cold, fever, environmental allergies, abrasions, hemorrhage, absence of menstruation, loss of appetite, diarrhea, dysentery,  gastrointestinal discomfort, toothache and hemorrhage, to name a few.  On the skin, it is antiseptic, astringent, anti-inflammatory and analgesic, making it perfect for clearing pores and treating acne and other skin irritations. It’s also known to help heal broken capillaries, balance pH levels, restore moisture content and reduce scarring.

A traditional herbal monograph provides an organised set of information about an individual plant, giving details of traditional uses, constituents, actions, and research findings with references. They are detailed resources, but for our purposes we have produced the paired down LINNÉ Skinpedia - a simplified study of our ingredients topical benefits. You’ll find this along with other ingredient information in our Instagram story archives under SKINPEDIA and INGREDIENTS. Thank you for sharing in the wonder!
