Valentina, tell us about yourself? What led you to create Sana Skin Studio?
Hi! My name is Valentina, I'm originally from Colombia but grew up most of my life in Miami. I've always been fascinated with skincare and the ritual of self care but I didn't resonate to any of the experiences that were out there. I was craving a place where I could feel supported on my skin journey through goal driven facials, real guidance and clean skincare.
Where does the name Sana come from?
The name Sana, deriving from the Spanish word “Sanar” meaning to heal, embodies the philosophy that everyone can become their own “Skin Healer”.
How does your background and heritage influence your practice at Sana?
I am from Colombia so it was very meaningful to me that our name is in spanish. When I was little my mom (like many hispanic mothers) would sing to me "Sana que Sana, colita de rana, si no sana hoy, sanara manana" which is a song you sing when you get a scrape or get hurt and the message is that if it doesn't heal today it will heal tomorrow. This always brought me so much comfort.
What makes Sana different from other skin studios?
Unlike traditional facials, Sana’s facials are rooted in education. Each facial is a chance to learn more about your skin and its needs. Our facials are customized to your skin needs and goals using the best of clean skincare. At Sana, we promise to be there for your skin + empower you from within.
Why did you choose to incorporate more natural products into your store and treatments?
Healing is about the choices we make for ourselves. If we can choose products / brands that are more results driven while being better for our health and our planet, why wouldn't we do it. We believe our daily choices can have a profound impact on our lives.
What is your current favorite skincare product?
I've always been a huge fan of LINNÉ's Renew Serum, Josh Rosebrook's Hydrating Accelerator, Indie Lee's Brightening Cleanser and Agent Nateur's Ageless Eye Serum.
What is your goal for Sana in the coming months?
We are very excited to be opening two more locations in the next months. We can't wait to keep sharing the Sana glow and growing our amazing community. Stay tuned for lots of fun things ahead :)
