Ceramides are a family of waxy lipid molecules present in human skin. They support the skin’s lipid barrier, locking in moisture and protecting the skin from irritation and environmental damage. Over-exfoliation, alcohol-based products, aggressive cleansers, pollution, sun exposure and other environmental stressors, as well as genetics and aging can all impair the skin’s barrier function. To prevent barrier degradation and support skin health, restore ceramide levels with ingredients such as jojoba oil.
Jojoba oil (though chemically classified as a wax) is composed almost entirely (96%) of ceramides. For this reason we include it in our PURIFY Face Wash and BALANCE Face Oil. Even as these products work to cleanse the skin and regulate oil production, they fortify the skin’s lipid barrier allowing their positive effect to be both immediate and cumulative.
