Do You Spend Enough Time in Nature?

The benefits of spending time in nature

Research shows that spending time in nature can help lower cortisol levels and boost immune functions. Spending time in nature activates the parasympathetic nervous system and counters the sympathetic nervous system which activates the fight or flight response.

While we now can easily spend entire days or even weeks inside, going from building to car to building, for the first 6–7 million years, human beings lived and evolved in a natural environment. Therefore, the physiological functions of human bodies developed in response to the natural environment. It is thus no surprise that our bodies are “at home” in nature.

Stressed or not, treat yourself to a 10-20 min walk outside this weekend. If it’s sunny we recommend applying a generous layer of RENEW and REPAIR under your PROTECT sunscreen to protect against UV damage and if it’s cold and dry finish your skin with a luscious layer of NURTURE or SMOOTH balm to promote barrier function.
