TURMERIC

We use the CO2 extract of organic turmeric root in our REPAIR face oil and SCRUB mask for its celebrated use as an anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and anti-fungal. Topically it is healing to minor wounds, fungal infections, insect bites, and eczema. It is also soothing to rosacea and may reduce the appearance of acne. The active curcumin, present in the rhizome oil, has demonstrated significant antioxidant and radical scavenging activity, making it valuable in both topical and internal applications.

For centuries, turmeric has been used in India to treat liver and digestive disorders. It’s analgesic (pain-relieving) properties in tandem with its anti-inflammatory behavior, furthermore make it an aid in the treatment of arthritis and muscle ache.

The leaves pictured here can also be used. They serve as wonderful wrapper for steamed dishes, can be used as a seasoning, tea or even pickled! Like the root, the leaves have medicinal qualities associated with relief of colds, jaundice, poor digestion, bloating and even intestinal worms. They are a Sattvic food in Ayurvedic medicine- and are considered to promote clear thinking and calm thoughts. The leaves can also be pounded into a paste to soothe skin and clear blemishes.
