Buriti Oil

benefits of buriti oil

The first time I discovered the buriti fruit was by accident. I was walking in Kauai, Hawaii exploring local flora when I came across these magnificent spheres. They were tessellated with a protective armor that resembled an armadillo. Fascinated by their morphology, I collected several specimens. It wasn't until later that I identified these as fruits of the Mauritia flexuosa tree. This palm is also known as the moriche palm, ité palm, ita, buriti, muriti, miriti (Brazil), canangucho (Colombia), and aguaje (Peru).

Upon further investigation I learned that buriti oil has an extremely high antioxidant content and highest natural occurrence of pro-vitamin A available (carotenoids). The rich unsaturated fatty acids in the oil helps restore moisture and renew tissue. The nutrient profile fortifies and protects cells, by supporting the production of collagen and elastin.

It is also a natural anti-inflammatory that can reduce redness and calm skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema, and reactions such as diaper rash.

Buriti also does wonders for the scalp. It repairs dry, damaged and chemically treated hair, adding shine and silkiness. Because this oil moisturizes, strengthens and smooths to prevent frizz and unruly tresses we knew it would be a perfect oil for both hair and body.

When it came time to formulate an everywhere oil, I knew I had to include this remarkable ingredient. I so hope you'll love it in our new multi-functional REPLENISH everywhere oil for face, body and hair. xo, Jenna
