Opt for fresh cut fruit and skip processed foods with refined sugars that will elevate insulin levels. Beyond affecting long term health, a spike in insulin can lead to Follicular Hyperkeratosis and ultimately clogged pores and acne.

Excess sugar consumption can also cause dysbiosis in the gut, and an overgrowth of yeast. Candida imbalances can trigger further sugar cravings as well as infections that require medical attention. In some cases, excess candida can even find its way into the bloodstream, where it can adversely affect organs and cause a greater immune response.

That’s not to say we don’t enjoy an ice cream on a glorious summer afternoon, we’re just encouraging you to explore the season’s bounty of melons, peaches, figs, cherries, apricots and plums. Not only are these fruits full of fiber to prevent an insulin spike but they are abundant in polyphenols to support gorgeous skin and overall health.
