PROTECT wears, performs, and feels like an ideal day cream, with all the added benefits of suncare. It layers perfectly over our serums and oils, serving as a primer for makeup application. PROTECT is nourishing, hydrating, lightweight, non-comedogenic, non-sensitizing, soothing, protective, reparative, rejuvenating, sweat and water resistant, color-correcting, transparent, and pleasantly scented.

WHAT MAKES IT UNIQUE?

PROTECT is crafted from the safest and most effective active sunscreen ingredient available: zinc. Formulating with zinc is a challenge due to its cost and complexity, but the effort and expense are worthwhile for the health of our skin and oceans. It took 4.5 years of development to create a formula that met our standards for safety, feel, and functionality. PROTECT not only shields your skin from the sun's rays but also provides a luxurious application experience. Packed with rejuvenating ingredients, it promotes a youthful, toned appearance.

FORMULATION WHY

For years, our customers asked us to create a LINNÉ sunscreen. We began this journey in 2019 and spent 4.5 years perfecting PROTECT to meet my exacting standards. During this time, I sent samples to over 300 customers and estheticians, who provided crucial feedback at various stages of development. Creating a transparent, stable, high-performance sunscreen with the luxurious texture and wearability of a cream was no easy task. However, thanks to our unwavering determination, we have now developed a game-changing sunscreen. It has exceeded our initial expectations and we are thrilled to share it with you!

HOW TO USE

Use PROTECT as your last skincare step, and before makeup if you wear it. Apply to the face liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply after 40 minutes of swimming or sweating; immediately after towel drying; and at least every 2 hours while in the sun.

Children under 4 years and pregnant women, ask a doctor prior to use. The ingredient butyloctyl salicylate is widely used in clean, EWG verified sunscreens that are formulated for babies and recommended during pregnancy, nevertheless in the absence of conclusive data on salicylate use in these populations, and because we are hyper conservative when it comes to your care, we advise children under 4 and pregnant women to check with their doctor prior to use.

Why Zinc?

We've chosen zinc oxide as our primary sunscreen ingredient due to its safety and effectiveness. Zinc oxide is the only single-ingredient broad-spectrum blocker, protecting against UVA, UVB, and even UVC rays. UVB rays are linked to DNA damage and skin cancer, while UVA rays contribute to photo-aging such as wrinkles, roughness, and age spots. If a sunscreen is not labeled as broad spectrum, it only shields against UVB rays. In addition to human safety, we've selected non-nano zinc to protect our oceans. Chemicals like oxybenzone, octinoxate, octocrylene, homosalate, benzophenone-1, benzophenone-8, OD-PABA, 4-methylbenzylidene camphor, and 3-benzylidene camphor found in many sunscreens can harm coral reefs, affecting their reproductive cycles and worsening the effects of coral bleaching.

Should I wear PROTECT everyday, even if I’m not going outside?

Absolutely! PROTECT is more than just a sunscreen. It's packed with nourishing, moisturizing, contouring, and reparative ingredients. Additionally, it provides protection against pollution and blue light. Why is blue light protection important? Blue light emitted from our phones and screens can contribute to brown spots, hyperpigmentation like melasma, and potentially accelerate photoaging and collagen breakdown. What are extremolytes?

Extremolytes are tiny stress-protection molecules that shield microorganisms thriving in harsh environments. In PROTECT, we utilize an extremolyte known as Ectoin. Originally found in a salt lake in the Egyptian desert in 1985, Ectoin has undergone extensive research. It has shown to provide protection against pollution and light, as well as hydrating, soothing, and barrier-repairing effects on the skin. Ectoin works by safeguarding cell membranes from chemical and physical damage, thereby reducing oxidative stress and inflammation in cells.
