Why Your Skin Needs More Water

Maintaining a healthy daily intake of water is one of the most important and accessible ways to support skin health. The human body is about 60% water, and even our bones contain 34%. Since the skin is our largest organ, composed largely of water, it is no surprise that hydration is essential for its function and appearance.

When we consume less than two to three liters of water per day, the body may enter a state of chronic dehydration. To compensate, it diverts water away from organs, including the skin. This compromises cellular health, and damaged skin cells lead to thinning, sagging, and wrinkling.

It is important to note, however, that drinking water alone will not erase wrinkles. To address those concerns, topical skincare is needed. Still, there are many reasons why water remains a cornerstone of both skin and overall health:

Improves complexion: Proper hydration boosts blood flow to the skin, helping even tone and oxygenate cells.

Reduces puffiness: Adequate water intake minimizes the body’s need to retain excess fluid, decreasing swelling and puffiness.

Clears acne: Water supports the lymphatic system in flushing toxins that clog pores and cause breakouts.

Minimizes pores: Balanced hydration regulates sebum production, which can reduce the appearance of enlarged pores.

Anti-aging support: Hydrated skin maintains elasticity and plumpness, helping to delay visible signs of aging.

So with that said, let’s all pour ourselves a glass (or two) and sip your way toward clearer, healthier, more radiant skin.
