Whether it’s a surgical incision, burn, or everyday bump, how your skin heals matters. Scars form when the dermis is wounded and your body quickly produces collagen to repair the area. With the right care, this process can be supported—helping to minimize discoloration, flatten raised tissue, and restore comfort.
At LINNÉ, we’ve seen powerful healing outcomes from our community of parents, practitioners, and patients. Our scar care essentials are gentle, effective, and grounded in both botanical wisdom and clinical science:
LINNÉ Scar + Wound Healing Protocol
Support skin regeneration, reduce visible scarring, and restore barrier integrity with this simple, effective routine:
Step 1: CLEANSE (when appropriate)
Gently clean the area with water or a mild, non-irritating cleanser (CLEANSE & PURIFY are both approved). Pat dry with a clean towel.
Why: Keeping the wound clean minimizes the risk of infection, which can lead to delayed healing and more prominent scarring.
Step 2: BALANCE
Apply 1–2 drops of BALANCE to the clean, dry area.
When: Use daily during early healing and as needed for inflammation, sensitivity, or risk of infection.
Why: BALANCE contains antibacterial and anti-inflammatory botanicals (e.g., black cumin seed and tamanu) that help reduce microbial load and calm redness without disrupting the skin’s regenerative processes.
Step 3: REPAIR
Once the wound has closed (no open skin), massage REPAIR into the area 1–2x daily.
Why: REPAIR is rich in omega fatty acids and regenerative oils like rosehip and sea buckthorn, shown to support fibroblast activity, collagen remodeling, and scar minimization. Gentle massage improves circulation, helps prevent adhesions, and promotes even tissue regeneration.
Step 4: NURTURE
Layer NURTURE balm on top to lock in moisture and shield the healing skin.
Why: Occlusion maintains hydration—a key factor in reducing transepidermal water loss (TEWL), minimizing itch, and preventing the formation of thick or raised scars.
Step 5: PROTECT
During daytime, finish with PROTECT SPF.
Why: UV exposure increases the risk of hyperpigmentation in healing skin. Zinc oxide provides broad-spectrum defense while also offering anti-inflammatory benefits.
Wound Healing Best Practices
-
Moist wound healing has been shown to accelerate epithelialization, reduce scarring, and lower infection risk compared to dry scabbing (Winter, 1962).
-
Avoid scabbing: Scabs create a barrier to optimal cellular communication and increase scar risk.
-
Massage helps realign collagen fibers, flatten raised tissue, and improve pliability (Atkinson et al., 2005).
-
Keep it covered in early healing stages with breathable dressings or protective occlusion to support consistent hydration and prevent trauma.
